This woman is an ignoramus and her advice will only give beginners bad habits. You need to start violin study with good habits. It’s a difficult instrument to learn so you really do need good instruction. Don’t learn from people who can’t play.

Thanks for your help. I’m an absolute beginner, so have no knowledge of whether you’re “correct” or not, but you seem very helpful, and I’d like to encourage you to disregard the boors who are making comments on some of your other videos. They’re not helping people like me who are looking for the basics, and you are. Thanks, keep up the good work. And yes, I know the difference between mahogany and carbon fiber composites, and don’t care; just need to know the positions, the basics. Best to you.
