Which Violin should I buy?
I love violin music and would like to start playing as a hobby. I have never played before. I am in highschool, and will go to college soon, so I can’t spend too much money on one. Any suggestions on one?
By the way, I’ve been looking at these two:
http://www.amazon.com/ViolinFactory-Teachers-Recommended-Student-Complete/dp/B000CRYWTQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1203879084&sr=8-3
http://www.amazon.com/Cecilio-CVN-100-Rosewood-Violin-Accessories/dp/B000FBL9D6/ref=pd_bbs_5?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1203879084&sr=8-5
Does anybody have any opinions on them. Also, it would be really nice if someone with experience with violins could tell me if they seem to be any good. Thank you very much.
neither. both cheap and unplayable instruments. check out sharmusicdotcom. check out ceo’s bio here

i would recommend the prelude, $150? will sometimes have used ones for $80, violin only. good value and 90% of the time correctly setup. also, good warranty on violin and bow. only drawback is you don’t get to choose based on how it sounds but you get a decent playable instrument.

the 1st one looks nice

The second one and it’s more expensiver which means it’s a good brand

i like the first one, its original

i dont recommend either of them only because i an a strong believer of trying the instrument before buying it. a lot of problems may occur when buying an instrument off of the internet. i suggest going to a shop and trying out instruments first hand for yourself. although you can send the violin back. i’ve heard from a friend that amazon has bad service. thi picture quality of the violin is poor and can’t judge its quality. it doesn’t state a brand or make or year.
i think you should invest in a good quality violin reguardless.
*you shouldn’t always buy something just because it’s on sale*

To be blatantly honest with you it sounds like you should really try out playing the violin first coz playing and listening are 2 very different things especially on violin
It is really tedious and sounds awful at the beginning so u better be prepared for that
Secondly, dont look on amazon (or the interent for that matter) for violins coz their not specialists and they will never be the best
You should really try out the violin first coz different violins have different feels and you need to see which one you like best
But…after all that I just play on a stentor student violin and i manage to make a great sound out of it so its really down to how hard you try!

looks don’t count, by the way
it is easier if you can go to actual violin stores and try them, though. just looking at violins don’t really help.
from what i see, the second one seems to be better.
also, see if you can find one hand-made.
factory made is not as good, quality wise.
and its not a good idea to look on the Internet.
you can’t play the violin.

DO NOT BUY A VIOLIN OFF THE INTERNET. You will only end up with problems and an instrument that is difficult to play.
Also, do not buy a violin from a guitar shop or general music store.
You must buy your violin from a proper violin shop so that it is set up correctly. $300 should get you a decent beginners outfit : violin, bow, case, rosin. You will need a shoulder rest ($20)and an electronic tuner ($20) as well..
You will also need a private teacher. The violin is not a "teach yourself instrument".
