Is this a good brand for a violin?
Okay, I play the clarinet and alto sax. The moment I heard a violin concerto however, I fell in love with the sound of that. I really want to learn to play the violin. The problem is my family isn’t that wealthy. I’m on a $100 budget. Here’s the one I’m looking at:
http://www.amazon.com/Cecilio-CVN-100-Rosewood-Violin-Accessories/dp/B000FBL9D6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
I know, it’s a violin shaped object, and definitely manufactured, but I’m not looking for anything special. I just want a beginner one and then if I want to, upgrade. Please, give me some feedback. Thanks.
other answer is better.
my opinion-
cecilio or any online bought instruments are not too good,
but considering it’s to start on just to have the darn thing, and you’re on a tight budget,
i’d say give it a go, even though it won’t be high quality

Since a decent set of violin strings will cost $25 and when the bow is re haired it will cost $50 you can see that there can not be much to this violin.
I am afraid you would be very disappointed.
A reliable place to find out about violins is

Even if you do not buy from them they have a good description of what to look for in a violin.

look into a local music store for a rental to see just how hard the violin/fiddle is to play
