Suggested violin for a student?
Hi,
I’m going into 9th grade and it will be my 6th year playing the violin. I don’t own one and I’m planning on it. I was wondering what types are recommended. I am on the first song in the Suzuki Books Volume 4.
Thanks!
P.S I want to try and keep the cost low
I rent it from the school so that doesn’t work, but thanks anyway.
I only started taking private lessons this past fall. And the one that I’m renting now is a Scott Cao.
You rent your violin now, right? Go to the store from which you rent it from and look at the violins they have for sale there. They should let you play it and they should also let you take one or two home for a couple weeks to play it. More expensive does not necessarily mean better, just listen very carefully and ask your teacher for his/her opinions on what ones are better. Make sure you get a good one. You’ll be playing for years to come, so you want one that will still be good when you’re in college.
Happy violin-ing

I JUST FOUND YOUR QUESTION! THIS IS CREEPY!!!!!
umm well as you know my viola is pretty cool. the place i rent from.. idk the name i’ll give it to you later… if you rent it for like half a year then its only like half the price to buy it! im sure kritzer would be ok with switching halfway through the year!
oh btw if your not actually madeline… sorry….
but it still would apply to you, it sounds crazy to rent from a different place for half a year but you could get serious discounts!

it depends on how talented you are. seeing as you are on only on suzuki volume 4 after 6 years, i’m assuming that you don’t take extensive private lessons, and that your violin playing is mostly based around school; i wouldn’t recommend a professional-level violin. i don’t really know what you mean by "types" of violins, but yes, there are models of violins that middle school/high school students that are slightly advance like you use. i would recommend sharmusic.com to look for some violins you could purchase online; i’d think you would need a price range from $1300-$2000.
good luck. if you live around the buffalo/western new york area you could also visit Wrona’s House of Violins up in Lewiston; Michael Wrona sells excellent violins at reasonable prices.
