Stability in …
Stability in vibrato has little to do with shoulder rest but a lot to do with loose thumb, loose finger joints, loose wrist, loose elbow and loose shoulder. If any of that is tensed, or the thumb is gripping the violin neck too hard, the violin shakes regardless of what shoulder rest you use.

I think stability would be good, dont see shifting a ton if it fits fine in first place. My teacher plays like 21 diff instruments so I do violin sometimes piano others. And I actually find it kinda easier since its 1 note at a time mostly and can learn a song like 100 times faster since I memorize it all on piano faster to memorize on violin.

The hook of the shoulder rest can “lock” the violin position. The good thing is it provides stability. The bad thing is it becomes less flexible, especially for violinists that adjust the violin position frequently as they play.
Whenever I play with a “normal” shoulder rest, it felt so strange not having the “lock” mechanism. I’m so used to this shoulder rest I can’t think of playing with a different one.
So when did you started violin lessons? It’s difficult compared to piano, isn’t it?

I’ve used this shoulder rest for years. It works for me. You should try it out with your violin at a music shop before you buy it. There are other “tall” shoulder rests available. This may not be the best for you. Good luck!
