Can anyone tell me who are the best violin composers? (like Beethoven, Vivaldi or so…, but I need more of them)

Thanks a lot.

Paganini may be the best violinist, but he is FAR from being a great composer, like, as you said, Beethoven and Vivaldi.

Besides Beethoven and Vivaldi, I also recommend the violin concertos by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Mendelssohn.

Bach is also a great composer for violin… Check out his Concerto for 2 Violins in D minor or his Brandenburg Concertos or his famous Air on the G-string.

I am a classical acoustic violinist and have been for a long time, but i love the sound of classic rock. I want to be able to have a violin that sounds like eddie van halen’s finger tapping, but i don’t know what kind of violin or amp makes that kind of rocky sound. What suggestions on electric violins around $500 price range, and a good amp that can deliver that good rockin tap sound?

I suggest an acoutic amp of your choice, pickup, effects pedal and pre amp.

I play violin to. I went to my local music store that sell guitars drums, band stuff not classical instruments. Take your violin in there and try stuff out. Then decided what works for you and is in your price range. I will be cheaper than getting another violin with an amp etc.

I am also wanting to know general price ranges, and the differences? Thank you.

Student violins tend to be of poorer quality, and don’t have such a good sound. More professional violins are usually made of better wood and other parts (e.g. tuning pegs, tail piece), can be hand-made, and have better strings (however better strings can be placed on violins of poorer quality) (and are usually more expensive).

I hope that this helps!
Good luck!

Learning violin if I already play guitar?

I got this nice violin sitting in it’s case collecting dust that my sister used to play. I already play guitar and wanna pick up violin.

How would my guitar skills effect violin; such as finger strength, chord shapes, and the like?

I’ve heard that an orchestra teacher from a friend of mine said that violin would be easy to learn for guitar players.

Use it as a weapon in your raid on downtown LA.
