I am trying to find the best violin under 200. i looked on ebay for used but don’t know good or bad brands. where can i buy used violins online?
I played the violin in school and I did a rent-to-own through a local music store. They offer payment plans this way so you can pay a little bit at a time each month while still being able to use it while you pay and then it’s yours when you make your final payment. Also, I would check the classifieds or even check with a music instructor at local schools, as they may now the cheapest and best value for you. My violin is a Scherl & Roth and it has lasted me for over 10 years. I would highly suggest getting a full size violin instead of a half-size. I’m not sure how old you are but if you are still growing, you will eventually want the full size. E-mail me if there’s anything else you need.

I am wondering where I should buy from, what accessories I’ll need, and where I can go (online?) to learn a bit more about playing.
Any and all help in this matter will be great.
Budget: 250-300$

This is an "outfit" which includes instrument, bow, case and rosin. The only other thing you would need is a shoulder rest. You could ask them to send you a KUN, which is the best brand.

Hi,
I’m going into 9th grade and it will be my 6th year playing the violin. I don’t own one and I’m planning on it. I was wondering what types are recommended. I am on the first song in the Suzuki Books Volume 4.
Thanks!
P.S I want to try and keep the cost low
I rent it from the school so that doesn’t work, but thanks anyway.
I only started taking private lessons this past fall. And the one that I’m renting now is a Scott Cao.
You rent your violin now, right? Go to the store from which you rent it from and look at the violins they have for sale there. They should let you play it and they should also let you take one or two home for a couple weeks to play it. More expensive does not necessarily mean better, just listen very carefully and ask your teacher for his/her opinions on what ones are better. Make sure you get a good one. You’ll be playing for years to come, so you want one that will still be good when you’re in college.
Happy violin-ing

Having brothers and children, as well as my own interest, doing music, we usually rented/borrowed from the schools. Then when we got good or had the "money", we got to get an upgrade. No sense spending lots of money for something to sit around cuz you can’t do it or lose interest. Also try finding a teacher through a college or community orchestra. They provide good guidance and are less expensive than "real professionals" and I have found them to be mor understanding as we struggle along in the beginning stages. Explore as many instruments as you want cuz you never know when one will come along calling to you! Good luck.
