Maurice Ravel-Pavane pour une infante defunte

Violin : Oliver Colbentson
Piano: Erich Appel

This is the best arrangement (violin piano) I’ve ever heard and I thought it’s a pity that many people have never listened to it.

So, I made this video for you and I hope you enjoy it my friends.

The Sheet

-try to “mix” the “voices” in some bars-

AND THE WINNER IS tpapastylianou (THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR MESSAGE!!!!!)
Hi, I’m pretty sure I own this CD :)
It’s track 7 from http://ester.utlib.ee/record=b1888307
(best link to the cd I could find online …)
So the violinist is Oliver Colbentson (Erich Appel the pianist) according to that link.

The whole CD is great, although the Pavane is by far the best on there. And yes, this is the best arrangement I’ve heard since I bought this CD, even from any orchestral ones out there.
Especially the flautando bit (4:22) … pure magic :D

NOW THAT A GOOD WOMAN HELPED ME I CAN HELP YOU . After following her MIRACULOUS message I am now sure !

Sound sample of a nice old French violin. The sound sample is an old edition of Schubert’s AVE MARIA being sightread by a young, student violinist. This version of Ave Maria is fron the Jascha Heifetz New Favorite Encore books. Sorry, we’re not able to send sheet music.

I’d like to get a CD for my girlfriend who is a good Violinist and a decent cellist, but as I grew up playing Brass instruments don’t know what string piece to get. She enjoys more technical pieces.

Sibelius’ Violin Concerto is the best!

I have just bought a 4/4 Scherl and Roth violin on Ebay but it doesn’t have a bow. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for… From my research it seems that carbon would be a good way to go… Any thoughts?????

I agree that a carbon fiber bow would be good for a beginner. They are probably the best you can get for that low of a price. The most widely used brand is Coda Bow. I own a Coda Bow and an Arco Nouveau, both as back ups for when I get my wood bow rehaired. Something funny that happens every time I use them is that I plan to use the Coda because it was more expensive, but I always end up accidentally picking up the Arco Nouveau (which was only $100 or so). Then I realize which one I’m playing and switch to the Coda. Then I realize that I actually like the Arco Nouveau better! You might want to go with that one. See what your teacher thinks too.
