How hard is learning the violin?

I’ve been considering learning, but I wanted to know how difficult it would be. I do have musical experience: I played piano for five years when I was little, I was in my middle school’s band, and now I take a guitar class in high school (which I’m fairly good at). Considering that, how hard do you think it would be for me to learn to play the violin? Thanks!

You’ll probably be fine. I was totally opposite of you. I have played the violin for 9 years and I took up guitar about 5 years ago. I pretty much had no problem. Some of the techniques are the same, but there will be a lot of things you’ll have to learn differently. But, maybe you should consider the cello. It’s a little bigger than the guitar, so there’s no size difference to get used to. Bowed instruments are pretty much the same. The concept is very similar. So, if you play the violin, it’s pretty simple to learn the cello. Vise versa.
