An old, unusual Spanish Violin circa 1890.

The piece is Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs), Op. 20 in C minor for violin and orchestra (or violin and piano) written in 1878 by the Spanish composer and virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate.

This is a rare, handmade violin from an estate collection of fine instruments. The sound sample is made using an inexpensive digital still camera. The violinist is a student violinist picked up the sheet music for Zigeunerweisen last week to a sound sample and is continuing to sight read the piece with this violin. This is an excerpt.
