Sound sample of a fine, old American violin. The piece is an excerpt of the Conus Violin Concerto in e minor being played for the first time in almost 2 years by a student violinist. Julius Conus (also spelled Konius) was a Russian composer. Written in 1898 this piece was first performed by Ivan Galamian with Conus’s daughter as his accompanist. A couple of years later, Fritz Kreisler began performing it, but it was Jasha Heifetz who brought to public attention and first recorded it.
